24th Annual Ithaca Artists Market

Over 70 established artists are juried into the Ithaca Artists' Market each year to showcase and sell some of the best art in the region. Visitors to the market have the special opportunity to meet and talk with all these artists in one place and to buy works of all shapes, sizes, and disciplines: paintings, prints, photographs, functional work, sculpture, stained glass, collage, fiber art and digital work. Introspective
When: July 2-27, 2014
State of the Art artists Jane Dennis and Terry Plater will show their work in a two-person show titled “Introspective” at the gallery in July. Dennis uses sewn metal, collaged wood and printed paper to create sculpture about the mind. Plater's paintings, in oils as well as water-based and dry media, tell or invite stories meant to challenge the mind as well as the eye. Show dates are July 2-27 and a reception for the artists will be held Friday, July 11, 5-8pm. Gallery hours: Wed. - Fri., 12-6pm; Sat. & Sun., 12-5pm. 120 W. THE MAP OF LOST THINGS

A NEW PLAY BY MAGGIE-KATE COLEMAN Directed by Melissa Crespo We lose things all the time and we mourn them. But is there such a thing as potential loss? What about the things we don't want and never had, but wanted the potential of having? The Map of Lost Things features a woman who is in the aftermath of a miscarriage. Her friend mourns his unrequited love and the One-We-Don't-Talk-About mourns nothing. How do we navigate the map of lost things?

3rd Annual Finger Lakes Cheese Festival
When: July 26, 2014 10:00am-5:00pm
Sample all the cheeses of the Finger Lakes Cheese Trail in one place at this day-long family event at Sunset View Creamery just outside of Watkins Glen. Along with our creameries, we've invited our neighbors, so there will be plenty of local farms and vendors sampling and selling, along with a few of our favorite wineries and breweries! Live music will be performed all day in the dining tent. And there will be plenty of activities to keep everyone busy all day: Barnyard Olympics, games for all ages, goat milking, petting zoo, farm tours, hayrides, mechanical bull riding, bossy bingo, cheese making classes, cooking with cheese demos by top regional chefs, wine and beer pairing seminars, and more.

Haunted Ithaca

Hear the chilling stories of the 1879 bobsled accident, the cursed wood of the Columbia Inn, Old Greeny – Cayuga Lake’s monster, the Heggie sister’s double grave, and spirits that still linger in Ithaca. This tour covers all things mysterious and grim, from ghost stories, to the city’s most sordid characters, to Ithaca’s paranormal past. Note: some of these stories are fairly gruesome and may not be appropriate for children if they are young or sensitive to scary stories. Reservations are required.

Thru Spectrums is a four-piece original funk rock band comprised of brother and sister duo Amanda Massa (vocals) & Joe Massa (guitar). Joining the Massa’s is Jesse Tyrrell (bass), with whom Joe has been playing music for over 10 years, & Will Sigel (drums). Thru Spectrums is a unique tour de force of experienced musicians who combine rock and funk in a way that makes you want to dance the night away and sing along to the melodic grooves of each and every song. Check our new album “Rhythms of the Mind” which was released in May!
